Estrogen treatment and topical estrogen creamHave you undergone menopause and don't like the results on your skin? Would you like the skin benefits of HRT without the side effects?
Extracted and translated from.. Aesthetic endocrinology is becoming more popular. Gender specific steroids, such as estrogen are very small molecules that can actually penetrate the skin when used in wrinkle and skin creams. This means they can be used to achieve benefits in the area they are applied while avoiding system-wide adverse reactions or side effects. After reading the current research it would seem that applying estrogen cream would be a good idea to improve skin condition after the menopause. Does estrogen prevent skin aging? Results from the First National Health and Nutrition Examination SurveyWe wanted to look at the relationship between estrogen use and skin wrinkles, skin dryness and skin thinning, so we found 3800 women thoughout the US who were older than 40 (average age 60) and had undergone the menopause. After controlling for other factors such as sun exposure, those women who had used estrogen had much less dry skin. Estrogen users had much fewer wrinkles and it did not appear to cause thinning of the skin. This suggests that estrogen treatment prevents wrinkles. Treatment of skin aging with topical estrogens [Estrogen cream]After treating the skin for 6 months with a face cream containing 0.01% estradiol and 0.3% estriol, the firmness and elasticity of wrinkled skin showed a marked improvement. It shrinks pore size and wrinkle depth by 61 to 100%. Also, skin moisture was increased. We also found estrogen cream increases the amount of collagen fiber (collagen III). No system wide hormonal side effects were noticed with estrogen cream treatment.
